Project Overviewx

The three-storey building located on No. 79 Oxford Street, Port of Spain, acts as the headquarters and clinic of the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago (FPATT), providing health services, counselling, and advocacy programs. The FPATT is a 65-year-old NGO and a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), linking the building’s operations to a global network of reproductive health advocacy.
Alvair, through the Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF), was contracted to perform condition assessment of the building, provide a detailed report, and prepare engineering designs, budgets and tender documents for the upgrade works required. This included upgrades to the structural, mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

Condition assessment on the structural and MEP infrastructure and prepare detailed report and priority-based budget.

Structural engineering designs to ensure that the structure can withstand a Category 5 Hurricane.

Civil engineering designs for site grading, drainage system, driveways and parking areas.

Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) engineering services for the upgrade of the MEP services which included the power distribution, water supply and wastewater systems, plumbing systems, HVAC.

Tender documents which included bills of quantities and pre-tender estimates and technical support during the tender evaluation.

Construction support services during the work execution stage.

Statutory approvals which included Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services and Trinidad and Tobago Electrical Commission, TTEC – Electrical Inspectorate
