BVI Farmers Reservoir Water Mains

Project:
New Water Mains and Civil Works for the Farmer’s Reservoir
Client:
Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA)
Location:
Paraquita Bay,
Tortola,
British Virgin Islands
The Paraquita Bay area in Tortola, BVI, has long been designated as farmland, supporting both arable and livestock production for several decades. With rising demand for water in this vital agricultural zone, the existing infrastructure is being modernized through the development of a dedicated reservoir.
The primary goal of the project is to strengthen Paraquita Bay’s irrigation system with a new water storage reservoir and an integrated water main and distribution network. RDA engaged Alvair to validate the reservoir’s capacity, design the new water supply mains, and establish adequate storage, zoning, and scheduling protocols. These measures will ensure farmers have reliable and consistent access to water for agricultural operations.
Field Assessments which included site investigations and topographical surveys to document the existing field conditions and current infrastructure at the IPS and Farmland community.
Conduct hydraulic analysis and design a pipeline system to efficiently manage the associated pressure, flow rates and fluid characteristics between elevations
Conduct hydraulic analysis to validate the required capacity for the new reservoir tank.
Develop a water supply distribution strategy to manage the distribution of water effectively to farm parcels in zoned sections using a automated system.
Engineering designs for the Mechanical and Civil aspects of the project and preparation of design reports, design drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, bills of quantities and QA/QC documentation.
Obtaining design approvals for statutory agencies.
Provided support in the tender document preparation and procurement of the contractor to execute the works (ongoing)
