MSc Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics

Core modules: Structural Analysis, Structural Dynamics, Structural Design and Fire Resistance, Computational Structural Analysis, Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures, Advanced Simulation of High Strain Rate Dynamics and Blast and Impact Effects on Structures ● Performed Nonlinear time history analysis to verify the design of a multi-storey reinforced concrete building. ● Using ANSYS and LS-DYNA I explored the differences between loading in static and highly dynamic high strain blast and impact events, focussing on stress wave propagation. ● My thesis involved the determination of the mechanisms behind blast wave diffraction upon impact with finite sized targets. Specifically investigating the impact of the non-linear loading experienced under near-field blast events. The analysis is done using LS-DYNA

    BSc Civil Engineering

Core modules: Structural Analysis and Computer Modelling, Structural Design of Steel and Concrete. Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics, Geotechnics, Construction Management, Engineering Project Management. ● My thesis explored the economic suitability of varying types of wastewater treatment facilities, to replace an existing facility that was no longer adequate to meet the increasing demands of the community.
